An Update from PAC

PAC is delighted to congratulate Lane Hallenbeck of ANSI, USA on his appointment as Chair of ISO CASCO. Lane has actively participated in PAC activities since 2000 and we are sure that his new role will continue to enhance and promote the role of accreditation in the voluntary sector throughout the world. On a sad note, Lane’s new role means that he is unable to continue as PAC Treasurer and a member of the PAC Executive Committee, due to time constraints. He recently resigned from these two roles and has been replaced on an interim basis with Mr Ron Coiner of IAS USA.
Ron Coiner (pictured above) is manager of the Product Certification Agency Accreditation Program at the International Accreditation Service (IAS), a U.S. based accreditation body. Prior to joining IAS, Ron worked as the Program Manager, Alternative Energy Standards Development and Personnel Certification at CSA America, a division of the Canadian Standards Association. Ron's previous experience includes work at NSF International, a third party certification agency and standards developer, where he served as Director Field Services. He has over 25 years of experience in conformity assessment and regulatory compliance. Ron holds a B.A. in Environmental Health from Western Carolina University where he was the 1984 recipient of William Broadway Environmental Health Award for excellence in undergraduate studies.
New Secretariat staff member: Ms Toni Vincent has recently joined the PAC Secretariat as a part-time office assistant. Toni will be working 2 - 3 days per week on documentation review and balloting and maintaining the PAC website among other duties. Welcome Toni!
Training Course Update: Following a successful funding proposal to APEC, PAC will conduct three training courses on Greenhouse Gases (ISO 14065:2007) during 2012 - one for accreditation body staff, one for verification / validation body staff and one for peer evaluators. The training is very timely, as the PAC MLA for GHG is expected to launch in the first half of 2012.
The Secretariat has recently surveyed all members to ascertain their training course requirements and expectations for 2012, including the need for a trainee peer evaluators workshop, which will probably be held in conjunction with the 2012 Plenary.
Claiming the Date: The 2012 PAC Plenary will be held in Hong Kong from 18 to 23 June inclusive, hosted by HKAS. All IAF and ILAC members are cordially invited to attend the meetings, most of which are open to all delegates. A comprehensive program of training will be offered during the week and details will be available from the PAC Secretariat once the meeting schedule has been finalised.
