Dubai Accreditation Department (DAC) celebrated World Accreditation Day on 9 June 2011. A ceremony was arranged in the Zabeel Hall of DM club. In line with the theme of this year "Supporting the Work of Regulators" the representatives of regulatory departments were also invited to attend the meeting.

Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed, Director of DAC, in her speech highlighted the importance of this day. She said the role of accreditation has become very important for the improvement of quality, health & safety. She explained the role of DAC and its regional & international activities. Eng. Alia Ismail, Head of Inspection Bodies Accreditation Section, gave a presentation on Law 2/2010 with regard to accreditation. Dr. Yaser Saleh, Principal Accreditation Officer, gave a presentation on registration process according to Law 2/12010. Engineer Redha Hassan Salman, in his speech, highlighted the role of the Public Health & Safety Department as a regulator in Dubai. He appreciated the efforts of DAC as an accreditation body.
DAC awarded appreciation certificates to members of the Advisory Technical Committee, task forces and DAC assessors as part of the celebrations. DAC also presented certificates to regulatory departments in recognition of their cooperation regarding accreditation.
A large number of delegates from conformity assessment bodies and stake holders including regulatory bodies attended the ceremony, moderated by Eng. Yousef Al Jasmi, Senior Accreditation Engineer.

DAC launched an accreditation scheme for personnel certification bodies according to ISO 17024 for certification of crane operators. In this regard, mandatory requirement document DAC-REQ-14 was issued. This scheme is launched in coordination with Public Health & Safety Department of Dubai Municipality.
DAC WINS SPECIAL AWARD
DAC won a special award for employee satisfaction. The award was received by Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed Director of DAC, from His Excellency Engineer Hussain Nasir Lootah Director General of Dubai Municipality. Engineer Alia Ismail Al Marzouqi, Head of Inspection Bodies Accreditation Section and Engineer Noaf Ahmed Al Naqbi, Head of Certification Bodies Section, were also present.
TRAINING
DAC conducted training courses on internal auditing to ISO/IEC 17020 and measurement uncertainty. Delegates from public & private inspection bodies and laboratories attended these training courses.

DAC arranged a meeting with certification bodies on 31 May 2011. Representatives of various certification bodies attended the meeting. During the meeting DAC mandatory documents used as accreditation criteria along with international standards were discussed in detail. Salient features of Dubai's accreditation Law No. 2/2010 were also discussed. DAC arranged a brainstorming session in Dubai Festival City, Intercontinental Hotel, which was attended by all DAC employees involved in the Accreditation Process on 26 May 2011. During the session, all ideas relating to the Accreditation Process Simplification and Improvement, Marketing Process Management, and Fee Structure, was discussed. A list of ideas was gathered and discussed during the DAC strategic team meeting, where decisions were taken accordingly. The session ended by rewarding the most effective employees in DAC during year 2010, for their outstanding contributions.

Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed, Director of DAC, in her speech highlighted the importance of this day. She said the role of accreditation has become very important for the improvement of quality, health & safety. She explained the role of DAC and its regional & international activities. Eng. Alia Ismail, Head of Inspection Bodies Accreditation Section, gave a presentation on Law 2/2010 with regard to accreditation. Dr. Yaser Saleh, Principal Accreditation Officer, gave a presentation on registration process according to Law 2/12010. Engineer Redha Hassan Salman, in his speech, highlighted the role of the Public Health & Safety Department as a regulator in Dubai. He appreciated the efforts of DAC as an accreditation body.
DAC awarded appreciation certificates to members of the Advisory Technical Committee, task forces and DAC assessors as part of the celebrations. DAC also presented certificates to regulatory departments in recognition of their cooperation regarding accreditation.
A large number of delegates from conformity assessment bodies and stake holders including regulatory bodies attended the ceremony, moderated by Eng. Yousef Al Jasmi, Senior Accreditation Engineer.
DAC LAUNCHES ACCREDITATION SCHEME FOR CRANE OPERATORS
DAC launched an accreditation scheme for personnel certification bodies according to ISO 17024 for certification of crane operators. In this regard, mandatory requirement document DAC-REQ-14 was issued. This scheme is launched in coordination with Public Health & Safety Department of Dubai Municipality.
DAC WINS SPECIAL AWARD
DAC won a special award for employee satisfaction. The award was received by Ms. Amina Ahmed Mohammed Director of DAC, from His Excellency Engineer Hussain Nasir Lootah Director General of Dubai Municipality. Engineer Alia Ismail Al Marzouqi, Head of Inspection Bodies Accreditation Section and Engineer Noaf Ahmed Al Naqbi, Head of Certification Bodies Section, were also present.
TRAINING
DAC conducted training courses on internal auditing to ISO/IEC 17020 and measurement uncertainty. Delegates from public & private inspection bodies and laboratories attended these training courses.

MEETING WITH CERTIFICATION BODIES
DAC arranged a meeting with certification bodies on 31 May 2011. Representatives of various certification bodies attended the meeting. During the meeting DAC mandatory documents used as accreditation criteria along with international standards were discussed in detail. Salient features of Dubai's accreditation Law No. 2/2010 were also discussed. Ms. Amina Ahmed, Director of DAC, welcomed the delegates and highlighted the importance of the role of all stake holders in the field of accreditation. Engr. Noaf Ahmed, Head of Certification Bodies Accreditation Section and Engr. Muhammad Shahid Rasool, Senior Accreditation Specialist answered the queries of delegates. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Noaf Ahmed.
BRAINSTORMING SESSION FOR ACCREDITATION PROCESS IMPROVEMENT
DAC arranged a brainstorming session in Dubai Festival City, Intercontinental Hotel, which was attended by all DAC employees involved in the Accreditation Process on 26 May 2011. During the session, all ideas relating to the Accreditation Process Simplification and Improvement, Marketing Process Management, and Fee Structure, was discussed. A list of ideas was gathered and discussed during the DAC strategic team meeting, where decisions were taken accordingly. The session ended by rewarding the most effective employees in DAC during year 2010, for their outstanding contributions.
